A playback singer and a live band are both brilliant — but they create very different nights. Here's how to choose.
Playback / solo singer
- Delivers the exact songs everyone knows, front and centre.
- Often a leaner setup and a more contained budget.
- Perfect for a headline reception moment or a focused set.
Live band
- Brings energy, scale, and versatility — reads the room and keeps it moving.
- A bigger production (more musicians, more sound), and usually a higher spend.
- Ideal for a sangeet or a long evening where you want continuous live energy.
How to decide
Start with the moment and the room. Want a specific voice for a headline song? A singer. Want the whole night carried live? A band. Many events do both — a singer for the headline, a band or DJ around it.
