A live Bollywood playback singer is one of the most requested — and most memorable — wedding bookings in India. Nothing lifts a sangeet or reception like a voice everyone already knows. So what does it cost, and how do you plan for it?

Playback and live-performance singers span a wide range:
- Emerging singers — the most accessible band; superb voices building their live reputation, perfect for an intimate sangeet.
- Mid-range / established — recognised names with a polished live act and a band; the popular choice for large weddings.
- Premium & marquee — chart-topping playback stars and household names, for flagship receptions.

What changes a singer's fee
- Who they are and how in-demand they are right now — the biggest factor.
- Your date — peak wedding season (Nov–Feb) and weekends command more.

Planning tips
- Decide the function first. A high-energy singer suits the sangeet; a soulful voice suits a smaller mehndi or the reception.
- Shortlist three to five. Availability, not preference, usually decides the final booking — go in with options.
- Book early. The best voices get committed months ahead in season.
- Bundle production. Booking the singer and the stage/sound together is cleaner and usually more cost-effective than sourcing separately.
